To the Editor,
Your August 25 article, “The Weighty Cost Of Obesity: Responding To A Health Epidemic,” raised points that many people avoid. Childhood obesity is rising in a way that affects the physical and emotional health of an entire generation. The article’s focus on the financial and medical impact was important, but what stood out most was how preventable much of this can be if we build healthier environments for kids.
At the Jump for Joy Foundation, we focus on fitness, community and confidence building rather than weight alone. We run free wellness events for youth that combine movement, positive psychology and teamwork. When kids feel welcomed and supported, they open up. They try. They grow. It is not complicated. They just need a space where they feel seen and encouraged.
We would be honored to invite you or a representative from Forbes to one of our upcoming youth wellness events. Seeing the families, the volunteers and the joy in real time might add a new layer to the ongoing conversation about prevention. If you would like to receive future updates or press materials, please let me know. We will only send things that truly matter.
Thank you for the work you do and for covering an issue that deserves national attention.
